13-year-old Roma transforms from a poster boy of the Ukrainian Revolution to a young man. On his 18th birthday he is released into the world with no money and little chance of escaping a life of crime. Independent life is a challenge for Roma, and the camera witnesses his insignificant efforts to cope with normal existence. Filmed over seven years, Director Olha Zhurba explores what happens to children who grow up in horrible life circumstances. Children we only notice when they harm us. Children we put behind bars.
