This website is operated by The Otter Group Ltd, and all of its subsidiaries, trading as Silky Otter Cinemas, herein after referred to as "Silky Otter Cinemas", "we", "us" and "our".

Conditions of Entering and Using This Site

This Website (Site) is made available solely for access from places in New Zealand and to users located in, or ordinarily resident in New Zealand.

The following Terms govern your use of this Site and any order or purchase of any product, service, merchandise or ticket (Product) from this Site. Your access to and use of the Site is conditional on acceptance of these Terms. Use of the Site indicates your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. You are not authorised to access or use the Site if you do not accept these Terms and Conditions.

Who May Access And Use This Site

You must not use this Site, in any manner or for any purpose which is unlawful or contrary to these Terms. Silky Otter Cinemas reserves the right to reject in its absolute discretion any order you place to purchase a Product, or to deny access to this Site, for any conduct that Silky Otter Cinemas, in its sole discretion, believes may breach the law, these Terms, violates the rights of Silky Otter Cinemas or third parties, or is otherwise inappropriate for continued access and use of the Site.

Children under the age of 16 may not purchase any Product on this Site. If you are under the age of 16 and would like to purchase a Product on this Site, please ask your parent or guardian for permission to assist you in this.

Intellectual Property

Content on this Site, such as graphics, logos and film clips, information, text, material, software or advertisements (Content), is protected by New Zealand and international copyright and trademark law. Content on the Site must not be modified, copied, reproduced, republished, framed, uploaded to a third party, posted, transmitted or distributed in any way except as expressly provided for on the Site, or as expressly authorised in writing by Silky Otter Cinemas or its affiliates, or as permitted by the Copyright Act. Strictly on the condition that you keep the Content intact and in the same form as presented on the network, you may use the content for your personal and non-commercial use. Silky Otter Cinemas logo and name are trademarks of The Otter Group Ltd, and may not be used as part of your business or in connection with any goods or services without the prior written consent of Silky Otter Cinemas.

Links and Advertisements

This Site includes links to other websites (Linked Websites). Unless otherwise stated at those websites, those websites are not controlled by Silky Otter Cinemas. By using those links, you acknowledge and agree:

1. Silky Otter Cinemas is not responsible for the availability of, or in relation to, content located on or through a Linked Website; and
2. inclusion of a Linked Website on this Site does not imply any endorsement of the Linked Website by Silky Otter Cinemas or its affiliates or their respective directors, officers or employees; and
3. you link to any Linked Website at your own risk. To the extent that this Site contains or links an advertisement by anyone other than Silky Otter Cinemas, including referral buttons and embedded hyperlinks (Third Party Advertisement), any such advertisement is paid for by the relevant advertiser and does not represent a recommendation or endorsement by Silky Otter Cinemas or its affiliates or their respective directors, officers or employees. Where a Third Party Advertisement contains offers of products by an advertiser, you may be permitted to accept that offer by linking to a Linked Website and executing the relevant transaction. No Free List

Certain sessions may be subject to a "no free list" or "no free tickets" (NFT) restriction, which Silky Otter Cinemas may apply at its discretion. Silky Otter will not accept complimentary tickets for sessions where a NFT restriction applies.

CONDITIONS OF MAKING A BOOKING

Classification

Tickets are also made available subject to the classification of the relevant film given by the Office of Film and Literature Classification. By purchasing a ticket, you represent that you (and any persons for whom you purchase a ticket) are of an age permitted to purchase a ticket pursuant to the relevant classification for the film. Silky Otter Cinemas reserves the right to request proof of age identification before permitting entry into films based on their classification, and refuse entry to you if you are not legally entitled entry to the film.

Billing

Unless otherwise specified all transactions are denoted in New Zealand dollars.

Booking Fees

Services and products purchased may be subject to booking, credit card and other fees.

All tickets purchased through our website and mobile application will be subject to a booking fee, unless otherwise specified. Silky Otter Cinemas reserves the right to alter any and all fees from time to time without notice.

Additional Fees

Additional charges may apply for 3D films, and special screenings and as otherwise notified by Silky Otter Cinemas. This includes a $2.50 premium on 3D film tickets. 

Ticket Purchase and Billing Information

When purchasing tickets through this Site you must provide personal details, including credit card billing information. Your credit card details are used for real-time billing of ticket purchases and are not retained on our server. Silky Otter Cinemas does not currently charge customers any kind of recurring transactions. To facilitate your ticket purchase, your billing information is shared with our banking gateway partners: Payment Express (Windcave) and Paymark. Payment Terms

All online payments are processed via Stripe’s (www.stripe.com) secure payments system to ensure high levels of payment security and are subject to Stripe’s terms and conditions (www.stripe.com/payment-terms/legal).

Allocated Seating

Where allocated seating applies to a session you have the choice of choosing your own seat on this Site. Otherwise seat allocation for tickets purchased via this Site is a on a "best available" basis.

By purchasing tickets on this Site, in cinema or via other Silky Otter Cinema's online channels, you agree that:

1. you will accept the seat reserved for each ticket purchased; and
2. we make no guarantees or representations to you that you will be seated in a particular seat, row or section of the relevant cinema. Silky Otter Cinema's Management team reserves the right to reallocate seats at their discretion; and
3. you agree that we may, at our discretion, refuse to sell movie tickets (tickets) to you or withdraw any tickets from sale.

Processing Orders

From the moment seats have been selected online, the user will have ten minutes to complete the order before the order times out and is therefore cancelled.

Order Confirmation

An email with order confirmation will be sent within one hour of the order being placed. If you do not receive an email with a confirmation number within this timeframe after submitting payment information, or if you experience an error message or service interruption after submitting payment information, it is your responsibility to confirm the booking. Only you may be aware of any problem that has occurred during the purchase process. Silky Otter Cinemas will not be responsible for losses (monetary or otherwise) if you assume that an order was not placed because you failed to receive confirmation.

Shipping

Silky Otter Cinemas does not ship any products to customers. All products must be collected in person at the cinema location selected, at the time specified when the purchase took place.

Other Merchandise

If a receipt is presented, Silky Otter Cinemas reserves the right to assess the condition and age of returned goods prior to offering a repair, exchange or refund. This may result in a repair, exchange or refund being refused. If a refund is provided it will be issued using your original payment method, unless payment was made with cash.
If a receipt or proof of purchase is not presented, Silky Otter Cinemas reserves the right not to offer an exchange or refund.
Silky Otter Cinemas is not obliged to offer a refund if you change your mind.
If a receipt or proof of purchase is presented, Silky Otter Cinemas may exchange products of equal value (only if stock is available at that location) if:

1. the goods are the wrong size or colour;
2. sew in labels are still attached;
3. the product is in its original packaging, including instructions manuals and all accessories, where applicable;
4. the item is unworn, unused and in saleable condition.

GST and Local Taxes

Prices on this Site include GST where applicable.

REFUNDS POLICY

Tickets

Tickets purchased in cinema, online, or via the mobile app are sold for a specific session only and are sold on a strict no refund, no exchange, and no transfer basis unless required by law. This includes situations that may arise where you may simply change your mind, when a member of your party does not show up or is unable to attend, or where you do not have a receipt for the product or services.

As a matter of convenience, Silky Otter offers “LIVE Tickets” for guests who purchase their ticket via our website and who paying in full, to refund their whole transaction and re-book. This refund is available anytime from purchase up to TWO HOURS prior to the start of the session. 
Guests purchasing in-store via POS, Kiosk or using any online method involving gift cards, vouchers or silky dollars etc. Cannot refund their live ticket. In which case, the below method should be followed:

Where refunds are allowed, these will not be given within 120 minutes of the feature film commencing, and MUST be submitted via email to enquiries@silkyotter.co.nz and should include a copy of the tickets. In situations where refunds are permitted for purchased tickets, these will take place in the form of a gift card for Silky Otter Cinemas, where the value of the ticket/s will be loaded less any booking fees. This gift card will be available for collection from the complex for a period of up to 3 months, after which it will be retracted. Note, vouchers cannot be refunded.  

Booking Fees

Tickets purchased via our website and mobile app are subject to a Booking Fee per ticket which is a non-refundable charge.

Vouchers and Gift Cards

1. Prepaid movie vouchers, and gift cards cannot be replaced or refunded if lost, stolen or damaged.
2. Prepaid movie vouchers and gift cards cannot be refunded, and change will not be given irrespective of cinema pricing.
3. Prepaid movie vouchers and gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash.
4. Silky Otter Cinemas cannot replace or refund lost or stolen gift cards.
5. Gift card balance cannot be redeemed wholly or partially for cash and no cash advances can be made at any time, regardless of whether there have been one or more transactions on the gift card.
6. Purchases made using a gift card may be refunded at the sole discretion of Silky Otter Cinemas, or as required by law, with the purchase value being refunded back to the original gift card used for the purchase. Items may not be refunded for cash or any other payment type.
7. Vouchers and gift cards remain valid until their specified expiry date. For full details, please refer to the specific terms and conditions for vouchers, gift cards, and e-gift cards below.

    

Pricing and Other Errors

If the amount you pay for a ticket is incorrect (regardless of whether because of an error in a price posted on this Site or otherwise communicated to you), you are able to order a ticket before its scheduled on-sale or pre-sale date, or you are able to order a ticket that was not supposed to have been released for sale, then Silky Otter Cinemas will have the right to cancel that ticket (or the order for that ticket) and refund to you the amount that you paid. This will apply regardless of human error or a transactional malfunction of this Site.

Cancelled/Postponed Events

Occasionally, events or sessions may need to be cancelled or postponed by Silky Otter Cinemas. Should this occur, Silky Otter Cinemas will attempt to contact you and refund the amount as per the policy of Silky Otter Cinemas. Silky Otter Cinemas may, at its discretion, refuse to sell tickets to you or withdraw any tickets from sale via this Site.

Consumer Law

There are limited circumstances covered under New Zealand Consumer Law where refunds are permitted. These circumstances generally relate to where the services provided are not rendered with due care, skill or in compliance with a specified purpose or provided within a reasonable time. They do not include circumstances where you change your mind. Should your circumstances satisfy those requirements, a refund will be provided.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Keep Your Ticket With You

All guests aged three and over must have a valid ticket and may be required to produce it for inspection by the cinema team. Children aged two years and under must be accommodated on a ticket-holding guest's lap.

Bring Your ID

Proof of age may be required upon collection of the tickets or within the cinema, as proof of age for films that have a Restricted classification or where tickets requiring proof of age are purchased. Discounted tickets also require the presentation of the applicable discount card / identification including Seniors and Students.

Alcoholic Beverages

Where your purchase from this Site or in Cinema includes a purchase of any alcoholic beverage, you warrant that you are over 18 years of age and legally entitled to purchase this product. If you are purchasing this product on behalf of someone else, the recipient must also be over 18 years of age. You or the product recipient must supply suitable photographic proof of age evidence at the point of supply at the Cinema on request by Silky Otter Cinema's personnel. If this cannot be presented, Silky Otter Cinemas is entitled to refuse to supply the alcoholic beverage with no further compensation to you.

Respect Other Guests In The Cinema

Please refrain from talking, disturbing others or putting your feet on seats or railings. Also, switch off your mobile phone or keep it on silent while in the cinema.

Keep Prams Or Strollers Out Of The Way

While they can be taken into the cinema, please don't leave them in the aisles or exits. They may be positioned in designated wheelchair areas, however, please note wheelchair users have priority, so staff may direct prams or strollers to be positioned elsewhere.

Filming

This premise may be photographed, filmed and recorded for promotional purposes and the resulting materials will be owned by Silky Otter Cinemas. By entering this area, you consent to your voice and likeness being used by Silky Otter Cinemas, its successors, assigns and licensees without compensation, for exploitation in all media now known or hereinafter devised, worldwide, in perpetuity and you hereby waive any moral, performer's or similar rights you may have in these materials to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law. If you do not wish to be subject to the foregoing, please speak to personnel at Silky Otter Cinemas or email orakei@silkyotter.co.nz

Leave Electronic Equipment At Home

The recording, or attempted recording, of films is a serious criminal offence and Silky Otter Cinemas will report all suspected offenders to police for prosecution. No filming or recording is permitted on Silky Otter Cinema's premises including foyer areas unless otherwise advised.

Hold Onto Your Personal Belongings

Silky Otter Cinemas does not accept responsibility for any losses or damage incurred.

Dress Appropriately

Neat, casual dress, including footwear, is the minimum standard required at all times.

Smoke Free Zone

Silky Otter Cinema's premises are strictly smoke-free and smoking or vaping is not permitted under any circumstances.

Safety First

For the safety and security of guests and staff, please note recorded video surveillance and silent alarms may be in use.

No Outside Food and Drinks

Please note, no food and beverages sourced from outside Silky Otter Cinemas is allowed in the cinema.

Our Rights

Silky Otter Cinema's Management reserve the right to:

1. Refuse guests' entry to the premises;

2. Request guests leave the premises without a refund, should they breach any of these conditions of entry;

3. Inspect any bag at any time on the premises.

No alcohol, bottles, cans, aerosols, glass, outside food or beverages, laser pointers, large bags, personal stereos, electronic equipment, rollerblades, bicycles, scooters or skateboards are permitted, unless otherwise advised.

NEWSLETTER

You may subscribe to our newsletter by providing your email address through our membership or newsletter subscription form. By subscribing, you consent to receive newsletters, promotional emails, and other communications from us. You must be at least 16 years old to subscribe to our newsletter. By subscribing, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the 'Unsubscribe' link at the bottom of our emails or by contacting us directly. Your personal information will be used solely for the purpose of sending you newsletters and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.  

OTHER CONDITIONS

Competition Rules

Silky Otter Cinemas may use the Site to run competitions and other promotional offers. You acknowledge that by participating in such competitions and promotional offers, you have read and agree to be bound by any additional terms and conditions applicable to those competitions and promotional offers.

Force Majeure

Silky Otter Cinema's obligations to you will be suspended for the period in which Silky Otter Cinemas is affected by any event beyond its reasonable control which shall include without limitation an act of God, fire, flood or other extreme weather event, natural disaster, strike, electricity, power or communications failure, shortage or unavailability of products or services or a change in applicable law.

Modification of Terms

Silky Otter Cinemas reserves the right to change these terms and conditions or modify the Site from time to time. The user shall be responsible for regularly reviewing these Terms and Conditions.

GIFT CARDS - TERMS AND CONDITIONS

For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, Silky Otter Cinemas refers to the entity The Otter Group Ltd, and all of its subsidiaries, trading as Silky Otter Cinemas.

1. Gift Cards are only valid for use at Silky Otter Cinemas.
2. Gift Cards can only be purchased in store at a Silky Otter Cinemas location.
3. Gift cards are valid from the date of purchase until the balance reaches $0, or until the expiry date - whichever occurs first. Gift cards purchased on or after November 1, 2025 will have an expiry period of 36 months from the date of purchase. Gift cards purchased prior to this date will expire 12 months from the date of purchase.
4. The minimum load value is $25 and the maximum load value is $300.
5. Gift cards can be used for movie tickets, or for food and beverage items available at any Silky Otter Cinemas site. Any value redeemed will be deducted from the available balance.
6. Gift cards can not be used to purchase gift cards or vouchers from Silky Otter Cinemas.
7. You do not need to use the entire available balance in one transaction. No change will be given, however, the remaining available balance may be applied to future purchases until the gift card balance reaches $0, or until 12 months after the date of purchase when the remaining value will expire.
8. Silky Otter Cinemas cannot replace or refund lost or stolen gift cards.
9. Treat your gift card like cash and keep it in a safe place.
10. If your purchase is more than the current credit amount available on your gift card, you can make up the full amount with another type of tender accepted in our cinemas.
11. The gift card holder can request a receipt showing their remaining balance at the time of transaction (using the gift card) in store at the candybar. Remaining balance can also be requested by calling a Silky Otter Cinemas location, or by emailing our Support Office (supportoffice@silkyotter.co.nz).
12. Gift card balance cannot be redeemed wholly or partially for cash and no cash advances can be made at any time, regardless of whether there have been one or more transactions on the gift card.
13. Purchases made using a gift card may be refunded at the sole discretion of Silky Otter Cinemas, or as required by law, with the purchase value being refunded back to the original gift card used for the purchase. Items may not be refunded for cash or any other payment type.
14. The balances of multiple gift cards cannot be consolidated onto one or a new gift card.
15. Gift cards are non-refundable, other than in those circumstances required by law.
16. Gift cards cannot be transferred or sold without the prior written permission of Silky Otter Cinemas.
17. Any use of the company name, images or logos must have the prior written consent of Silky Otter Cinemas.
18. Gift cards will be void and not be redeemable if they are defaced, mutilated, altered or tampered with in any way.
19. Silky Otter Cinemas may subject gift cards to verification and security checks at its absolute discretion.
20. Silky Otter Cinemas reserve the right to cancel any gift card, for any reason at any time without notice. In these circumstances Silky Otter Cinemas may either provide a refund or a replacement gift card of equivalent value, unless it reasonably suspects fraud in relation to a gift card.
21. If you wish to dispute an amount deducted from your Silky Otter Cinemas gift card, you must contact our Support Office (supportoffice@silkyotter.co.nz) or visit the candybar at any Silky Otter cinema in New Zealand. If an amount is not disputed within ninety (90) days after the transaction date, we may (at our sole discretion) refuse to provide you with a refund.
22. If you have a problem or complaint about your Silky Otter Cinemas gift card or these Terms and Conditions, please contact us by email at supportoffice@silkyotter.co.nz.
23. Silky Otter Cinemas reserve the right to change any terms contained in these Terms & Conditions at any time.
24. Silky Otter Cinemas gift cards are valid for New Zealand use only.

Agreeing to the Terms and Conditions

1. You agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions by purchasing, using or attempting to use your Silky Otter Cinemas gift card or making any transactional query.
2. By using a Silky Otter Cinemas gift card, you warrant to us that you will comply with these Terms and Conditions and all applicable laws and that your Silky Otter Cinemas gift card will not be used in any manner which is unlawful, misleading, deceptive or unfair.
3. If you are giving a Silky Otter gift card to another person you must ensure that the recipient of the gift card is aware of the Terms and Conditions that apply.

E-GIFT CARDS - TERMS AND CONDITIONS

For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, Silky Otter Cinemas refers to the entity The Otter Group Ltd, and all of its subsidiaries, trading as Silky Otter Cinemas.

1. Only valid for use at Silky Otter Cinemas.
2. Can only be purchased online at www.silkyotter.co.nz.
3. e-Gift cards are valid from the date of purchase until the balance reaches $0, or until the expiry date - whichever occurs first. Agreeing to the Terms and Conditions

ADMIT ONE PASSES - TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Complimentary Guest Pass

Redeem your complimentary guest pass for any session at the Silky Otter ticket counter.

1. This Pass is redeemable for one (1) general admission ticket at Silky Otter.
2. This Pass has a six (6) month expiry from date issued and will not be replaced/exchanged or extended. Date of issue can be found on the back of the pass.
3. This Pass can be redeemed at the Silky Otter ticket counter, via the Silky Otter Cinemas app or at the Silky Otter Cinemas self-serve kiosks.
4. This Pass must be surrendered upon use.
5. This Pass cannot be used in conjunction with any other voucher or offer.
6. This Pass cannot be redeemed for sessions listed as special events (sessions classified as special events are at the discretion of Silky Otter).
7. This Pass does not have a monetary value.
8. This Pass cannot be exchanged for cash.
9. This Pass cannot be replaced or refunded if lost, stolen or damaged.
10. This Pass cannot be sold.
11. Silky Otter Cinemas must approve in writing any material which includes reference to “SILKY OTTER” or “SILKY OTTER CINEMAS”.

Monday – Thursday Complimentary Guest Pass

Redeem your complimentary guest pass for any Monday – Thursday session, at the Silky Otter ticket counter.

1. This Pass is redeemable for one (1) general admission ticket at Silky Otter.
2. This Pass is only valid for sessions taking place Monday – Thursday.
3. This Pass has a six (6) month expiry from date issued and will not be replaced/exchanged or extended. Date of issue can be found on the back of the pass.
4. This Pass can be redeemed at the Silky Otter ticket counter, via the Silky Otter Cinemas app or at the Silky Otter Cinemas self-serve kiosks.
5. This Pass must be surrendered upon use.
6. This Pass cannot be used in conjunction with any other voucher or offer.
7. This Pass cannot be redeemed for sessions listed as special events (sessions classified as special events are at the discretion of Silky Otter).
8. This Pass does not have a monetary value.
9. This Pass cannot be exchanged for cash.

STANDARD PROMOTION OR COMPETITION RULES

Definitions

1. ‘Silky Otter Cinemas’ means all companies under The Otter Group Ltd umbrella and any associated parent or sister entities.
2. The ‘Promoter’ is Silky Otter Cinemas.
3. ‘Disqualified Participants’ are:
   
   1. All Silky Otter employees, all employees of participating sponsors or promoters and/or advertising agencies and their Immediate Families;
   2. All people under the age of 18 years where the prize incorporates air travel or any other element which would be illegal to supply to a person under the age of 18 years;
   3. ‘Immediate Families’ include spouses, grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren, whether by marriage, past marriages, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation or other family extension.

Entry:

1. These Promotion or Competition Rules (‘the Rules’) apply to all Silky Otter Cinemas Promotions or Competitions (collectively the ‘ Promotion’) conducted online or in-store and by means of any medium – online, radio, print, or a connected device. The Rules may change from time to time.
2. If a particular Promotion has specific rules or terms (‘the ‘ Specific Rules’) those Specific Rules will apply if there is any inconsistency with the Rules.
3. Unless otherwise stated in the Specific Rules registration, entry is limited to 1 per person. Where multiple registrations, entries are acceptable, each must be made separately.

All entrant personal details must be valid and up to date and will be held by Silky Otter Cinemas and may be used for the purpose of the Promotion and for future promotion and marketing purposes in accordance with the Silky Otter Cinemas Privacy Policy, unless otherwise directed by contestants at the time of entry.
9. Personal information provided at the time of entry is presumed to be true and, in the case of phone or email notification – active, through to and beyond the date of the Promotion’s completion.

Winning the Prize

1. Only the person who originally entered the Promotion can be awarded the prize (the ‘Winner’).
2. The Winner will be determined in the manner set out in the Rules or the Specific Rules – if not specified then as determined by the Promoter.
3. The Promoter’s determination of the Winner will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
4. The Winner will be notified by email or phone. Where attempts to contact the Winner fail (eg when the Winner cannot be contacted by phone or email after seven (7) days) the Promoter will select another winner.
5. The Prize is not redeemable for cash or transferable. No other family members, friends, office associates or any other person will be able to participate on the Winner’s behalf. In the event that the Prize specified in the Competition becomes unavailable for any reason the Promoter may substitute a prize of like or equal value.
6. Where the Winner is required to claim the prize in person, they must provide proper identification (eg driver’s licence, passport, birth certificate). If the Winner is under the age of 18 years their parent or legal guardian must accompany the Winner or give their prior written consent to the award of the Prize.
7. The Winner takes the Prize entirely at their own risk and indemnifies Silky Otter Cinemas in respect of any claim for any accident, injury, property damage or loss of life that may occur in connection with the prize. The Winner is responsible for all insurance, tax or other costs that may be associated with the Prize. Where the Prize has associated terms and conditions the Winner accepts the Prize subject to those terms and conditions and restrictions.
8. Where the Prize includes air travel and/or accommodation, either international or domestic (the ‘Travel Prize’):
   
   1. The Winner MUST have valid documentation, including but not limited to valid passports and Visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at every destination.
   2. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities (including any costs associated with delay, will be the sole responsibility of the Winner).
   3. The Winner and their travelling companion (if applicable) must travel together at all times. The Winner is responsible for transport from their residence to their nearest airport for flight departure and from their nearest airport to their residence upon returning home.
   4. Flight tickets are available on the regular scheduled services of each airline and are subject to seasonal embargos. The flight itinerary may have to be adjusted depending on the airline's departure city and their current flight schedule. Unless otherwise specified, the air travel is economy class.
   5. Any changes to travel dates or additional accommodation outside the travel period specified in the Travel Prize details, made by the winner, which incur additional costs, are to be paid by the Travel Prize winner.
   6. Unless explicitly stated in the Specific Rules, the Winner will be responsible for expenses including, but not limited to, spending money, meals, drinks, transport, laundry charges, activities, incidentals, taxes (excluding departure and any other flight associated taxes included within the Travel Prize), gratuities, services charges, passports, visas, travel insurance and all other ancillary costs associated with redeeming the Travel Prize. The Winner must obtain travel insurance to protect themselves against additional costs incurred in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
   7. The Travel Prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The Travel Prize must be taken as stated in the Specific Rules and no compensation will be payable if the Winner is unable to use the Travel Prize as stated. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Winner is, for whatever reason, unable to travel on a nominated date during this period, whether the failure was due to reasons beyond the Winner's control or otherwise, then the Winner will forfeit the Travel Prize.
   8. The Promoter makes no representation as to safety, conditions and other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including government, local consular offices and the web site of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The winner accepts the Travel Prize at their own risk.
   9. All travel is subject to the terms, conditions and restrictions of the Travel Prize service providers. Any travelling companion included in the Travel Prize (if applicable) accepts the Travel Prize subject to these terms, conditions and restrictions as if references to the Winner in the relevant clauses were to the travelling companion. The Winner and their travelling companion must sign a legal release, in a form acceptable to the Promoter in its absolute discretion, if requested by the Promoter.

Silky Otter Cinemas Responsibility & Acceptance

1. Silky Otter Cinemas reserves the right to amend, vary, extend or discontinue a Promotion at any stage, for any reason.
2. Silky Otter Cinemas takes no responsibility for any inability to enter, complete, continue or conclude the Promotion due to equipment or technical malfunction, Force Majeure or otherwise.

EA Sport: FIFA World Cup Night - Terms and Conditions

Running every 2 weeks from  February  11^th2026 until further notice at Silky Otter Hollywood Sumner only. Excludes public holidays and is subject to change. 

1. Entry Mechanic: Limited spaces available. Entrants must apply in a team of two with up to 32 spots (16 teams) permitted each week. Positions filled by first-come-first served. Contestants must pay their entry fee to reserve their spot. Applications open for the following week upon competition of the week priors competition; circa 8pm. Entry cost is $20 per team and is non-refundable less than 2 hours prior to the start of the competition, as per Silky Otters standard refund policy. To enter, contestants must make payment at Silky Otter Hollywood via the Candy Bar.

Contest starts at 6pm arrival final team applications at 5:45pm that day, should positions still be available. Contestants must pick a suitable team name and select their chosen FIFA country to play as. Country's chosen on a first-come-first serve basis. Contestants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We recommend bringing ID to provide proof of age. Further details related to proof of age/identity can be found under the relevant terms and conditions. 

2. The Competition: The competition will be scaled according to the number of teams in the competition up to 32 teams will result in 4 teams per group with 4 groups. Stages of the competition may be removed as needed based on the number of competitors. Should off number of teams register then the previous winner will receive a bye. If they are not competing a team will be selected at random.

Group Stage: 32 teams are permitted. Scaled according to the number of competing teams. Teams allocated into groups of 4 labelled A – H. Maximum 8 groups with 4 teams per group.

Groups are randomly drawn at the start of the competition. Each team will play the other teams within their group for a match length of 6 minute halves. Points are allocated by results:
Win = 3 points
Draw = 1 point
Loss = 0 points

The top 2 teams from each group advance. For any tiebreakers. The continuing team will be decided by the following method until a difference is identified:
1. Total points
2. Goal difference (goals scored minus goals conceded)
3. Goals scored
4. Head-to-head result (between tied teams)
5. Fair play points (fewer yellow/red cards)
6. Drawing of lots

Knockout Rounds: The top team from each group will be drawn against a second-place team in another group and will compete in a X minutes match. The winning team will progress to the next stage. This will consist of 6 minute halves.

If a knockout match is tied the winner is decided by the following method: Extra time of 3 minutes per half. If still level, a penalty shootout of five goals each.

Quarter & Semi Final: Following on from this, the quarterfinals and the semifinals will follow a similar format whereby the winning team will play against another winning team for a match length of 6 minute halves. Again, with the winning team progressing. 

Should there be an available prize for 3rd place, the losing teams from the quarterfinal will have the opportunity to compete for the 3rd place prize. The final match will result in a match length of 10 minute halves. The winner receiving the weekly prize as indicated by Silky Otter staff.

5. Match rules stipulation: Decisions in the competition are at the discretion of silky otter staff. Their decision is final. And cannot be appealed. Entrants who are unable to compete or complete their required matches will forfeit the competition. No substitutions from the names listed on the sign-up sheet are permitted. Proof of identity may be required. No custom teams permitted and teams will consist oof pre-assigned players for that year. Unless otherwise stated, match rules follow those outlined by the EA Sport: Fifa Games related console.

6. The Prize: First place winners of the competition will receive a complimentary ticket to Silky Otter Cinemas whereby all related terms and conditions apply. Winners will also receive a free small complimentary popcorn each. 

2^nd place team will each receive a free small Coca Cola range soft drink and small popcorn. 3^rd place teams will each receive a pack of Silky Otter lollies.

Private Hire Vouchers

1. Each Voucher is for one (1) private theatre hire for two (2) hours, or the duration of the chosen movie, whichever is longer.

2. Each Voucher can only be redeemed by contacting events@silkyotter.co.nz, and is not available for online redemption through our website.

3. Each Voucher has a twelve (12) month expiry date from date issued and will not be replaced/exchanged or extended.

4. Each Voucher is only redeemable between the hours of 10am to 8pm Monday – Friday and 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. Session times are subject to availability.

5. Content to be watched, played, or presented during the private hire must be agreed on by the Voucher holder and Silky Otter Cinemas at least ten (10) days prior to the booking commencing. Popcorn Pics

These sessions include unlimited popcorn and soft drinks. “Unlimited” refers to entitlement of refills to our regular popcorn and Coca Cola range post-mix soft drinks for the duration of a guest’s chosen session for a film. Guests should retain their popcorn box or post-mix cup and return these to a Silky Otter staff member for refilling as needed.

Girls' Afternoon/Night Out

You must be 16+ years to attend this event. Alcohol will only be served to persons 18+ years (proof of age may be requested). The offer includes the movie ticket and a free glass of wine (as provided by the sponsor). Seats strictly limited. Excludes online booking fee.

Seniors' Morning Tea

You must be over 65 years of age to attend a Seniors’ Morning Tea (you may be asked for ID). Excludes special events.

Baby Otter Screenings

Each ticket includes a free seat for one child under 3 years old (who may sit on the parent’s lap). Children aged 3 years or under qualify as a 'bub'.

If a parent has more than one child under 3, a separate child ticket is required for each additional child. Children aged 4 years or older require their own ticket and seat. 

For larger groups (e.g., preschools), we recommend a supervision ratio of one adult per four children to ensure comfort and safety. Offer excludes online booking fee.

1.1 These Terms and Conditions govern your participation in the Silky Otter Club Rewards Programme. By joining and using your Silky Otter Club Membership, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1.2 Use of your Membership signifies your acceptance of the current Terms and Conditions.

1.3 These Terms and Conditions are effective as of 10 August 2024. The Programme Operator may amend these Terms and Conditions, including any Benefits of the Programme, at its sole discretion. The latest Terms and Conditions will be available as part of the Silky Otter Cinemas Terms and Conditions page. Members are encouraged to review the latest Terms and Conditions regularly.

1.4 All Members are subject to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Definitions

• Benefits: The perks and advantages offered to Members under the Programme.

• Card: The virtual membership card issued by the Programme Operator to identify the Member and enable them to access the Programme’s Benefits.

• Silky Dollars: The brand-managed currency earned by Members based on their spending at Silky Otter cinemas. Silky Dollars can be redeemed for discounts on eligible purchases.

• Silky Otter Club: The loyalty programme operated by Silky Otter Cinemas.

• Member: An individual who has been accepted as a participant in the Programme and recognised by the Programme Operator as a participant at any given time.

• Membership: Participation in the Programme by a Member.

• Membership Number: The unique identifier assigned to a Member upon joining the Programme.

• Participating Cinema: Cinemas operated by Silky Otter Cinemas that are designated as participants in the Programme.

• Programme: Refers to the Silky Otter Club loyalty programme.

• Programme Operator: Silky Otter Cinemas Limited.

3. Membership Types

There are currently two different Membership tiers available as part of the Programme:

• Gold Membership Tier: The entry-level tier offering standard benefits.

• Platinum Membership Tier: A premium tier offering enhanced benefits.

(See section 8 below for further details)

4. Membership Cost

Membership in the Silky Otter Club is free of charge.

5. Membership Criteria

Membership is available to individuals aged 16 years or older. 

At this time Membership is only available to individuals, not to families, groups, or organizations.

6. Virtual Membership Cards and Proof of Membership

6.1 Members will receive a Virtual Membership Card upon joining, displaying the Member's unique Membership Number. To reference a Membership number a Member can log in to their membership account. A Virtual Membership Card (containing a unique scannable QR code) can be viewed by clicking "View Card" on membership overview page.

6.2 Membership details must be presented at the point of sale to access Membership Benefits and provide Proof of Membership to Participating Cinema staff. When purchasing in person at any Participating Cinema, Members can either provide their membership number, their unique scannable QR code, or their phone number to the staff member at the time of purchase to link their purchase to their Membership. If purchasing online, Members must sign in to their account to activate, redeem and benefit from Membership Benefits.

7. Activation of Membership

7.1 Membership is active from the date of enrollment. Members can earn and redeem Silky Dollars immediately upon activation. (To start the sign-up process, please go here.)

8. Membership Tiers and Benefits

All Members will be notified of rewards in their Membership overview on the Silky Otter website and by email if Members have opted in to receiving Newsletters and Promotional Offers from Silky Otter. Members can update their communications preferences on Personal Details page).

See point 6.2 above under "Proof of Membership". To activate, redeem and benefit from Membership Benefits online on the Silky Otter website or in person at a Participating Cinema, a Member must provide Proof of Membership. 

8.1 Gold Membership Tier

• Bottomless Popcorn: Unlimited refills on Mondays for Members only. 

• Birthday Benefit: 1 complimentary Birthday ticket, issued on the Monday at the start of your birthday week, valid for 7 days. Do note: guests must be signed-up 1 week ahead of their birthday  to receive this benefit. This ticket cannot be redeemed for sessions listed as special events (sessions classified as special events are at the discretion of Silky Otter).

8.2 Platinum Membership Tier

• Platinum Memberships earn Silky Dollars at the following rate: Earn $1.20 Silky Dollars for every $20 spent.

• Platinum Membership Benefits:

• I Love Monday Savings: a movie and popcorn for only $17.50 in Auckland sites, or $15 in out-of-Auckland sites (plus online booking fee, if applicable) on Mondays. Members can bring guests and those guests are eligible to the same promotion.

• Bottomless Popcorn: Unlimited refills on Mondays for Members only. 

• Birthday Benefit: 1 complimentary Birthday ticket, issued on the Monday at the start of your birthday week,  issued on the Monday at the start of your birthday week, valid for 7 days, plus a special birthday treat. Do note: guests must be signed-up 1 week ahead of their birthday  to receive this benefit. This ticket cannot be redeemed for sessions listed as special events (sessions classified as special events are at the discretion of Silky Otter).

8.3 Membership Tier Advancement

Members start at the Gold Membership tier. To qualify for an upgrade to the Platinum Membership tier, a Member must visit a participating Silky Otter cinema six times within a 12-month period. On each visit, the Member must purchase at least one movie ticket. Upon the seventh visit within the same 12-month period, the Member will be automatically upgraded to the Platinum Membership tier, unlocking enhanced benefits and rewards.

Platinum status is subject to an annual review based on the Member's activity. If a Platinum Member does not meet the required tier criteria within a 12-month period, their status will revert to the Gold Membership tier.

9. General Terms of Use

9.1 Earning Silky Dollars

• Silky Dollars are earned based on the amount spent, excluding any discounts, vouchers, private hires, or other offers.

• Silky Dollars earned will be credited to your account within 24 hours of your purchase.

• When a purchase is made in part by redeeming Silky Dollars, Members will earn Silky Dollars on the portion of the transaction that was purchased using cash (or other forms of payment, i.e. debit or credit card), and not the portion that was paid for using Silky Dollars. (Rest assured, this is calculated electronically in our system).

• A purchase made with a gift card is not eligible to earn Silky Dollars.

9.2 Redeeming Silky Dollars

• The redemption rate is $1 Silky Dollar = $1 off your purchase.

• Silky Dollars can be redeemed at any participating Silky Otter cinema for eligible purchases. 

• Eligible Silky Dollar purchases  include any food item, non-alcoholic beverages, and movie tickets at Silky Otter. 

• Silky Dollars can not be exchanged for cash.

• Silky Dollars can not be redeemed for gift cards. 

• Redeeming Silky Dollars does not earn you Silky Dollars. 

• Silky Dollars can not be redeemed on private hires or corporate events.

• Silky Dollars can be used as partial payment on any item, and the remaining value of the item is payable as a standard Silky Otter purchase.

• Silky Dollars expire on each and every 12-month anniversary of Membership. Anniversary date (and points expiry date) will be visible on the Silky Otter website, in each Member’s personalized Silky Otter Club membership overview. 

9.3 Account Management

• Members are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of their account information.

• Membership accounts are limited to one per person and cannot be shared or merged.

• Members must opt in to receiving notifications from Silky Otter so we can alert Members of associated rewards and benefits. Members can update their communications preferences on Personal Details page)

9.4 Programme Changes and Termination

• The Programme Operator reserves the right to modify or terminate the Rewards Programme at any time without prior notice. In the event of termination, any remaining Silky Dollars must be redeemed within 30 days.

9.5 Data Privacy

• By joining the Silky Otter Club, Members agree to the collection and use of their personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9.6 Limitation of Liability

• The Programme Operator is not responsible for any unauthorized use of a Member’s Membership benefits.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.

1. Membership Value

1.  The Silky Otter Premium Loyalty Membership is valued at $379 for Silky Otter Ponsonby and $299 at Silky Otter Orakei, Wigram, Richmond, Palmerston North, Takanini, Queenstown & Sumner.

2. Membership Benefits

1. The Premium Loyalty membership entitles the guest to 26 tickets (equivalent of 1 ticket every two weeks).
2. All tickets expire 12 months from purchase of the Premium Vouchers. 
3.  Premium members are entitled to 25% off the Silky Otter kitchen menu. This refers to any food prepared in our kitchen by our kitchen team and available for purchase.
4. Premium members are entitled to 15% off the remainder of the Silky Otter food and beverage menu. This discount does not apply to already discounted items, specials or other promotional items that may be available for purchase.
5. This discount must be claimed from the Candy bar or self-serve kiosks on-site at any Silky Otter Cinemas location. It is not available through website, app or other method of purchase.
6.  Bottomless popcorn will be available to all 26 Premium Membership tickets used by the Premium Membership.
7. Bottomless Popcorn refers to the entitlement of unlimited refills to our regular popcorn for the duration of a guest's chosen session for a film. Guest should retain their popcorn box and return the box to a Silky Otter staff member for refilling.
8. The Food & Beverage discounts are available for the duration of the Premium membership, regardless of whether the Premium Member’s ticket allocation has been exhausted.
9. The bottomless popcorn allocation is only available for the 26 tickets allocated to the Premium Member. After which time, members may purchase popcorn using their 10% discount.
10. Premium members will receive all other benefits available for Gold & Platinum level members. Details of their benefits, terms and conditions can be found via the Silky Otter website.
11. Upon the year anniversary (expiration) of the Premium Membership, guests’ membership level will automatically revert to the Platinum membership level. 

3. Ticket Usage

1. Premium members may only use one ticket per session.
2. The discounts are available to the Premium Member ONLY and cannot be used by others in your party

4. Membership Purchase & Eligibility

1. The purchase window of the Premium Vouchers are determined by Silky Otter Cinemas.
2. The Premium vouchers cannot be renewed unless otherwise notified by Silky Otter Cinemas.
3. Premium vouchers are available to individuals aged 16 years or older.
4. Premium vouchers are only available to individuals, not to families, groups, or organizations.
5.  Premium vouchers are available for online purchase only.
6. Premium Vouchers cannot be purchased with a Silky Otter Gift card.
7. Premium Members with a $299 (other locations)  Premium Voucher, may purchase tickets for Silky Otter Ponsonby but will incur a $5 surcharge per ticket to be paid at the time of booking.
8. Tickets can be claimed by signing into the member’s Loyalty Account either via the Silky Otter website, signing-in via Kiosk, or presenting at the Candybar with your loyalty details. 

5. Verification & Conditions of Use

1. Proof of Membership level and/or ID may be asked for prior to entering your screening. 
2.  ID requirements fall in line with our general terms and conditions shown on our website in line with our conditions of entry.
3.  If a Premium member does not have valid ID, they may login to their Silky Otter Club account and show their Premium Voucher Loyalty Status to staff.
4. Failure to meet either of these conditions may result in guests not being permitted entry into their session.
5. Some titles may not be available on Premium Vouchers. This is solely at the direction of distributors. Silky Otter will work hard to ensure we screen titles available for use with the premium vouchers wherever possible.
6. The Premium Vouchers are not for resale, cannot be refunded or gifted to another person after purchase.
7. The Premium Vouchers and its associated discounts and benefits are available for use for the member only and cannot be transferred to another guest.
8. Members are responsible for their own ticket allocation, and therefore, should not provide others with their membership details to avoid abuse of their membership and ticket allocation.
9. If a Member suspect their membership has been abused by others, they should submit details, as well as any proof to Silky Otter by email to enquiries@silkyotter.co.nz.
10. Premium voucher tickets are valid for 2D sessions only. It cannot be used for 3D sessions or any Special Event screenings; this includes but is not limited to; Girls Night Out, Advance Screenings, Dine Events, Seniors Morning Tea etc.

6. Refunds

1. If required, tickets on the premium membership, may be refunded back onto the member’s card. This will be done solely at the discretion of Silky Otter management and refunds fall in line with our general terms of conditions… i.e. Where refunds are allowed, these will NOT be given within 120 minutes of the feature film commencing, and MUST be submitted via email to enquiries@silkyotter.co.nz
